Did you know that Valentines Day is the second the most popular card sending holiday just behind Christmas? For the hopeless romantics, Valentine's Day is a welcome opportunity to show their partner, the depth of their devotion and is also an opportunity to send an expression of friendship, gratitude, and love to those around you including classmates, teachers, co-workers or neighbors. I think that everyone enjoys receiving valentines, even if they won't admit it. However, it's mostly women who send the cards; so more guys need to get on board.

Since the Middle Ages, starting in England and France, the day for lovers has been celebrated. In the 15th century people bought little booklets with verses in them, they then made their own valentines using the verse to express their thoughts. Eventually, cards were exchanged on a huge scale and February 14th was highlighted on most people's calendar. British migrants introduced Valentine's Day to the US in the nineteenth century. A tradition also grew of giving gifts, at least from men to women. This is usually flowers or heart-shaped chocolates. Red roses are the traditional Valentine's Day flower which symbolizes passion and love. You can't beat a bouquet of roses to melt the heart. And if you're lucky, you may receive jewelry. Men should never forget that diamonds are a girl's best friend at any time of year and a candlelit dinner for two, including music, dancing and a fire, you are definitely setting the stage for romance.

Even couples who have been together a long time should still make a fuss of each other on Valentine's Day. This is one day that should not be dreaded or about sacrifice, it should be about being together and enjoying each other, it will make both parties feel special and appreciated. Don't just tell her she is the most important thing in your life, show her.

Being romantic takes alot of effort and planning and the results will be so worth it. Go the extra mile this Valentine's Day to make her laugh, smile or bring tears of joy to her eyes.
